Maxwell, re:"All AMD has to do, to yield high qtys of K6-2-300 is to jack up the voltage a little." NOT!

The oxides are designed for 2.0 volt MAX on .25 micron process. Seems that AMD has already "juiced" the voltage to get speed. Perhaps any shortage is due to DEAD PARTS due to oxide fatigue?

S-man, lack of availability of K6-300 is NOT because of a poor speed distribution of the chips. All K6-2's run at 300 MHz, most even below the specified voltage (2.1v on my K6-2-266 CPU for example), AMD marks some at 266 MHz for the <$150 market. It seems to me that a few large OEM's have sucked up a 1 month supply (over 1 million) of K6-2-300 and K6-2-333 CPU's.
