To All, I know that you will have more questions and comments regarding this post, which is good. It give food for thought. This is Tom Hughes' speech as given in London on June 23, 1998 before an audience of 350 people. The words are his, any mistakes are mine. The following is a quote. "Betting Inc. is in the business of routing PERFECT Wagers; which are a form of PERFECT transaction. "WHAT IS A PERFECT TRANSACTION? "A PERFECT transaction is a transaction that is personal, remote and encrypted. Personal, because that consumer can easily make the transaction at any time; Remote, because the consumer can make the transaction anyplace; and Encrypted, so that the consumer has peace of mind. "A PERFECT Wager is a wager placed by a consumer using PERFECT platforms and technologies. It is a transaction that is Remote from the gaming operator, made from a convenient location such as a home or office. The transaction occurs via financial transaction messages sent electronically,and using accessed using cards; value added smart cards, ATM cards with PIN numbers, and credit cards which can all play a role in the market. "PERFECT transactions will eventually be effected by many different types of mass marketed equipment, deployed by both banks and non-banks and used by both banked and un-banked consumers. "Initially, the market will develop around entrepreneurial initiatives by non-banks. These entrepreneurial organizations will develop platforms and systems initially used in niche markets and local markets, that will evolve over time into global defacto standards. "For Instance, Betting, Inc., working in conjunction with ET&T, has developed the Patented PayMaster terminal. The PayMaster allows non-computer users (i.e. normal people) to accomplish PERFECT transactions from their home. For consumers that are computer-literate, but have security concerns about passing financial information over the internet, ET&T has patented the SLICK. (www.hpos.com). "The SLICK is a smart keyboard that provides a simple way to bypass the internet entirely when sending sensitive financial data to complete a transaction. The SLICK (Secured Line Internet Computer Keyboard) is a simple and elegant solution to securing internet commerce. "ET&T has also patented the PocketPay, a combination mobile phone and transaction device. The PocketPay, and similar devices, allow consumers to accomplish PERFECT transactions anywhere, anytime; true mobile commerce. The working model of the PockerPay will effect both PERFECT wireless transactions while also serving as a voice phone. The PocketPay is a terminal and phone that fits in your pocket. "Working with Newcom Technologies, ET&T and BETT will demo at this conference a PERFECT transaction, sent from a GSM phone to ET&T. ET&T, acting as the host processor, will pass the transaction into the bank system for authorization, and then notify the gaming operator of the wager being placed and the amount.
