MCI is building a highly scalable SNA/IP network by replacing 50+
FEPS (Front End Processors) with Cisco's CIP Technology. The
Channel Interface Processor, CIP, allows a Cisco Router (CS75XX,
CS72XX) to channel attached to the Mainframes. MCI is deploying
APPN/DLUR-DLUS SNA network (host-to-host APPN and
multi-protocol backbone) using Cisco's Channel attached routers at a
1/10th of the cost. MCI conference is in progress....! The 30 years+ data are still in the Mainframes and Cisco is providing the best cost
effective solution to access SNA/IP data from the Mainframes using
CIP technologies.
