"enterprise computing market" has come to mean the large (say fortune 1000) companies which have dedicated IT departments and have been the traditional market of IBM mainframes. This is a codeword for the battleground between RISC Unix (HP and SUN primarily) and the Wintel players (the really aggressive companies here being CPQ and Dell, with HP and IBM playing defensively in Wintel). This is not a niche, it is as big as the whole PC market in revenue terms.
