Dan: The rally seems to have stalled after 11:00 AM. Volume was heavy until then, about one million shares, but has dropped off since. I think the SOX has reacted to some articles about the chip business. Rockwell is spinning off their chip division, and other Asian mfgs have announced similar sales. Presumably the new operators will close down unprofitable lines as their new cost structure will give them some breathing room to limit production until chip prices rise.
The LSI rumor appears not to have been made out of whole cloth ....LSI is buying a company, Simbios Inc., a subsidiary of Hyundai that makes SCSI chips.
Linda: Good catch again on today's story. Are there any EEs out there who can give us a (non-technical) rundown about how this will affect vlsi profits?
P.S. I stockized some liquid assets today, and optionized some more on vlsi's turnaround. Hoping for another pop.
