Good reply Jeff, although I think that IBM's emphasis on mainframes today may be somewhat softened, than it was previously:

"I think IBM will be right behind this - they'd do almost anything to sell mainframes, that's where the profit is for them."

Sorta like a tacit form of partnership, eh? What about Blue's SYSPLEX, their means of clustering mainframe modules through the use of IP? Any experience with this technology?

Several years ago CSCO made the press with their revolutionary FEP replacement strategy using 7500s. Today's release by MCI differs in that there is a carrier behind it now providing an integrated service, as opposed to a generic capability offered at the box level. Correct?

BTW, do you or anyone else here know if IBM itself hasn't been offering this equivalent service as well, through their Global Data Network or through the Advantis connection?
