Who cares about the delay. Earnings have not been revised and most analysts seem to be quite positive. I doubt the we will see Msft run another 20 pts in the next 2 weeks but I think most people here are buy and hold long term investors. You seem to bee happy about the delay....why is that? Can't afford the stock?

Why should they rush? NT4 is selling way above forecasts, and initial reports on Win98 are favorable. IT people are consistently telling them it's more important to be solid than prompt. There was another IT manager quoted along those lines just a few days ago.

Yes, NT5 is a lot bigger than NT4 and I'm sure they'll need to adjust their development process to deal with it, but they've certainly proved to be adaptive in the past. This same line of worry has preceded every blockbuster MSFT OS in my memory.

BTW, I think your position in Novell will do fine, and from that standpoint NT5 delays may be meaningful. For MSFT shareholders, however, I believe at this point they are not.

I don't agree with you. I think you were wrong before, and your just more wrong now. I think that Bill Gates characterization of NT 5's current schedule was quite honest and believe it will ship in the first half of 1999.
