Isn't Kurlak known as a contrary indicator?

TG, He has been pretty good, and his forecast agrees with mine (G), this type of forecast is what leads my turnips to believe that we will have a minimelt in the semi in Autumn and the basis for the forecast of a possible 13 or so in CYMI at that through (but not before a nice spirited rally here to about 20-22 as I have mentioned now too many times).

Interesting the predictions Kurlak is making. Lehman Bros. is a little more optimistic.

lehman.com

I can't post without AcrobatWriter so I will paraphrase:

6/23/98

Four factors trigger chip rally: 1) NSM/MU report better business; 2) reports of DRAM price uptick and consolidation; 3) more companies report better order trends in late June; and, 4) West Coast analyst reports that orders at VLSI have moved from awful to ok.

Micron reported a surprisingly strong growth 45% growth in bit shipments. Nat'l Semi Cond. indicated there might be some upside in previous expectation for sequentially flat sales in FYQ1-99 (Aug). Lehman could not confirm uptick in DRAM prices but thought that consolidation among Korean mfgs was imminent which would be positive. 45% bit growth for MU was on the heels of a decline last qtr thus 30% growth in Aug. qtr was more likely.

Reports of a price uptick in Pentium 2/233 and now slightly over list. Lehman finds price strength interesting but "unsustainable".

What they expect: Very tough July and a "much better" 4th qtr. Low priced PCs, DVD, cable data modems, ADSL modems, and digital broadcasting should stimulate strong chip volume in the 4th qtr.
Zeev, do you grow those turnips hydroponically so you can access their mystical powers year-round?
