It is too bad many ppl have missed out on MSFT's recent speculative run in their stock price. But dont be lured into a false sense of security that MSFT bad days are behind them and the stock will keep climbing from here on.

MSFt has many serious woes to deal with and what we are seeing over the past week is a spike of optimism because of the WIN98 release and the Apeals Court ruling.

Someone here recently mentioned early reports of WIN98 are looking good. Please identify the source of how good. WIN98 will be a big flop relative to WIN95. Sorry folks but the vast majority of the corp. world will not invest in Win98 and it is predicted that a large majority of existing home users of Win95 will not pay the $90+ to upgrade for minimal enhancements of features. The numbers should reflect this flop within a few months. Any early indicators are meaningless because you will get the Geek Hyped purchases everytime. Its the sustained sales that count. This will not come to fruition.

The DOJ/States case against Microsoft will state in Sep. and Microsoft's stock price will depress just because of the initiation of the event. Then, the DOJ has a lot more in store for MSFT than the Apeal Court ruling. IBM went through this pain for over 10 years and it hurt them. Make no mistake about it! Its MSFT's turn.

Then there is NT5. As MSFT put it - "We are betting the farm on NT5". If anyone thinks that NT5 delays are not a big deal, think again! I was predicting NT5 being delayed until 2nd half 1999 since March. Its about time they admitted it. What many of you fail to understand is that every month that MSFT delays NT5 means that it is that much closer to the dreaded Y2K date. I'm sorry, but no responsible corporation in their right mind will touch a massive revolutionary new product like NT5 until well after January 2000. NT5 has now exceeded 40 million lines of code and conitnues to grow. Also, IT staff will be much to busy preparing themselves for Y2K to consider "Go Forward" activities of any nature. Most systems in the last half of 1999 will be put in a Frozen Configuration State. NT5 will be put in by some small organizations, people wanting to play with it, and irresponsible organizations, but not many others.

So, Nasdaq and others, you are right that it is too bad some of us didnt get to ride the recent gravy train but I hope many of you that enjoyed the ride are smart enough to get off with your profits before the train heads down hill. Lets see where the stock is my fall winter 1998 and beyond.

Quote me on it. I want you to!

I do enjoy reading the information on this board. It sure is a lot more civil and educational. That is why I joined this board recently. Keep up the good work people.
