LOW FLOAT Pick... Those of you who got the PM, and responded with DD thank you ...
For those of you who didnt get my PM I apologize, and understand that I had my reasons.

Well today proved to be interesting. My low float pick?
Well, I asked that it be kept quiet. It will be featured in Big Dogs email tomorrow... How's that for secrecy..
I suggested everyone wait a few days for the ask to drop.... Volume was well above average, and ask is up 18%. As a matter of fact, all morning volume was zero.... a few hours after my PM it was 30,700. well above average. So much for patience and discipline.

The ironic thing is this: As those of you who received my response will know, I AM NOT in this stock!! I was waiting for the ask to come down a bit before jumping in. Was it foolish to trust others with a pick I hadnt even bought yet? Maybe, but I learned something, and I have other plays...

Will this one go berserk tomorrow based on big volume now that the cat is out of the bag? Possibly. Are there flaws in this company? Yes. Is there above average risk? Yes. Would I have taken the risk? Only at 3/4... at THAT price, it made sense to me. Will others pay a lot more? We'll see....

I will follow this post with my original PM of this morning that I sent out....

MG

OPTQ - LOW FLOAT PICK

The secret is out... Big Dog has sent one email already, and is likely sending another tomorrow... so here it is... proceed at your own risk, and keep in mind that I do NOT own one share ... I wanted it @ 3/4... I will not chase this one....

OPTQ:
Ocean Optique Distributors is engaged in importing, marketing and distributing high-quality ophthalmic frames and sunglasses. For the comparable six months ended 12/31/97, revenues totalled $4.3 million, up from $1.3 million. Net loss applicable to Common totalled $431 thousand, vs. an income of $17 thousand.
Revenues benefitted from the acquisition of Solovision. Loss reflects higher selling, general and administrative expenses as a result of the acquisition, and higher interest expense.

52 week high $23.50
52 week low .75
trading @ 15/16 x 1
shares out- 962k float 100k

most recent 10Q: sec.yahoo.com

Now this one may be a dog, it may not, but that float could make things interesting.
I'd like everyone to take a look (assuming this interests you) and PM me with your thoughts. If you decide to buy, please tell me how many shares you bought. This way we can all know how much of the float we control.

This is an experiment. What will make this work is the truth. So far I have received 30 responses. That is manageable for communicating via PM.... Soon SI will have the capacity to have private- invitation only threads. They are beta testing it as we speak. I have volunteered to help with the testing, but so far I havent heard anything. When the private threads are available, I will be opening one for all the people who I think are knowledgable, honest and trustworthy. (how many people???) The idea will be simple. Short, mid or long term holds in companies that we look at closely, and believe in. No rules written in stone, no daytrader games, and no excuses about MM's knowing what we are up to.

I am NOT looking to become a "picker" or "guru". The truth is, I am a guitar player, not a pro investor. I do however find some interesting stuff now and then, and I have done fairly well.... I also know some good people here on SI (you know who you are) and if we all work together in private, we can make a lot of money or go down in flames with no one to blame but ourselves.

OK OPTQ, lets take a look. I swear I am not in. I am spread very thin right now, and I would like to see 3/4 before I jump in. It was there last week, and could get there again if we wait. This is the real test. Can we all wait a bit? This trades so thinly that any volume will be noticeable. Waiting for the 52 week low limits our downside, and gives a bigger profit. It also has NEVER been mentioned on SI as far as I can see....

Tell me what you think.

Cheers

MG

See, it was so untrue, what USA said. Everybody misses you when you're gone and wants to hear what you have to say, mg.
