w, it's a fine, but important point. A gun can used to stop an attack if the person making the attack only if the attacker is capable of deadly physical force. You only have the right to stop the lawlessness, not to kill. You can't shoot if they flee. Robbery isn't a capital offence. If the person is killed and the killing is ruled self defense, then you walk. The prudent rule is that's it's better to be tried by 12 than be carried by 6. Sociopaths think nothing of taking life, the law abiding usually don't understand that at their peril. My .45 and I stand by my comment.

So what? So is a knife. A cross bow. Poison. Guns are also made for sport and hunting.
