Hi, DScottD!!! Yes, America is a little hopeless in soccer terms. My daughter's generation is the first which actually even played it. But now we even have soccer moms, so I think if you wait about ten or fifteen years, we will be doing a lot better at winning competitions. It is really a sea change, a paradigm shift of sorts, from traditional American sports, requiring more speed and coordination, and less brute force. In other parts of the world, children as young as four play in the dirt. We just don't incorporate the game in our life experience the way these other cultures do.

I guess it was hard to tell without seeing the wry smile on my face that I was not totally serious about every white person returning to Europe. Maybe we could just give the Indians more land, especially more productive land, and let them govern us, since they have more innate wisdom and a much stronger connection with nature than we do. Global warming and species extinction might stop, at least. Does everyone know that a third of all plant species in America are endangered, incidentally?
