From Computer (July 1998):

An article by Barry Phiilips called "Have Network Storage Networks Come of Age?". Not much new in terms of technology for the followers of FC but some interesting facts:

1. One estimate that 80% of NT and Unix servers will be FC attached by 2001.

2. The zoning services are to allow different vendors to use different OS platforms to use the same SAN: "To realize the SAN's full potential, developers will have to create new distributed file systems and resource-partitioning tools that allow multiple servers running multiple operating systems to simultaneously access the SAN pool. Anders Lofgren says to run the SAN with the same OS.

3. Clustering multiple SANs across metro areas may be the "killer app".
