Engine, so what? Handguns are primarily close combat defensive weapons. Sam Colt called his pistol the great equalizer, a person's size is neutralized. Kind of democratic, isn't it? However, only a fool would take a handgun as their main arm in a gun fight, use a rifle. Most handguns are designed to be carried without others being aware. That serves me very well. The more that criminals worry about who is packing, the better. Florida has the right idea for sure.

Not true. They are also used for varmits, rabbits and snakes. Protection in remote areas against other predators is vital and you can do it with your hands free when you holster your gun when you are working in the field. You can't do that with a rifle or shotgun. It is also effective in close quarters such as ones home or in heavy brush areas. Admit it though. People are by far the most dangerous animal on the face of the earth and we can not forget that fact and we must take measures to protect ourselves. What difference does it make to you or others whether I protect myself and family with a shotgun or a handgun? The gun is no more dangerous than the person holding it.
