Hoddle said the right thing, I hope Beckham recovers. He will feel a lot better after hearing Hoddle stand by him.

He's a great player, but maybe he's picked up Cantona's bad habits by being so petulant. The difference between Cantona and Beckham, however, is that Cantona's kicks at his opponents (and crowd members) were aimed with far more precision.

If only Hoddle had given that 11 players a few more outings together before the World Cup, maybe England would have been playing Croatia this week instead of Argentina.

It's very ironical that there was a Nike ad with a picture of Beckham in the British press yesterday saying that the England v Argentina game would be decided by someone's foot.
