Teri ,
It is shocking to me that people are taking this market (NASDAQ) to near new highs. You can't turn on cnbc without some company missing the numbers.ATMI, the latest victim. We all know that AMAT is going down, or at least I think so. It seems the ratio of companies that miss to make their number is 3:1. AMAT escapes some of this pressure because they release july numbers, so they don't have to come out like LRCX, NVLS, even morgan on CNBC wouldn't say how bad it is.

SEMI EQUIP SPENDING FOR 98 - $30.8B - original estimates
SEMI EQUIP SPENDING FOR 98 - $25.0B - downward revisions & my estimate
VLSI EQUIP PURCHASES FOR FIRST 6 months of 98 -$16.4B- approx. VLSI#'s
That leaves about $8.6B of purchases for the balance of 98. That is for the whole semi equip sector. Now does any one think that AMAT will go down. I love AMAT but not now no matter how many buy recommendations they have. Hopeing to cover short and go long in low to mid $20's.

Tell me what anybody thinks.
Thanks
TK
