I didn't see any fickleness this time around.

Francis, as long as there are gullible people in this market there will always be an incentive for the brokerage firms to prop up analysts like Kurlak. Kurlak cannot proclaim the industry absolutely terrible, then absolutely great, and then absolutely terrible all within the course of a few weeks. If he did, then even the most naive investors would become cynical. No, he has to be more subtle than that.

Ben A. studied the options market and suspected Kurlak would say something "positive" about Intel/semis the week before June expiration. Two day after Ben made that prediction Kurlak stepped out and said things aren't that bad. The Semi's may be oversold. If you are a long-term investor it you may want to start looking at Intel... yada yada yada.
The SOX rose 4% just before expiration.

You can make good money listening to Kurlak...

Well, you can make money in this market listening to just about anyone. You would have to be a very poor trader to not have made good money in the last few years.

Dale

Paul, Dale & Francis: Thanks for your Kurlak insight.

Francis:

>>> he [Kurlak] said long term investors might want to start building a position around December and traders should hold off in the near term <<<

Hmmmm... That way, he and his Merrill Lynch cronies can begin building their positions in Sept, Oct, & November. The analyst biz is so two-faced.
