David,

I am a contractor with LCI (Qwest), while I cannot discuss the inside
operations and the coffee rumor mill, It seems that the majority of the comments on this site have been related to the Internet, voice and to the future "court decision". The stock rose 3 points in a week and has never gone down two years in a row. They have the best fiber of any carrier in the world and AT&T is planning on spending over 1 1/2 billion dollars to try and "Match" the current network that Qwest has in operation. (note: the planned network is only 1/2 completed)
Sure, you may not need an OC192 backbone, but the rate that networks
are growing it pays to have the bandwidth available for future use.
Do not concentrate on Qwest as still being a fiber provider,it is now the fourth largest telecommunications company world-wide and still relitively new to the game. I believe that the decision will help
Qwest if it goes through, but if it doesn't, Qwest won't necessarily
be hurt either. It's a no lose situation. The merger with LCI although
completed on paper is still progressively moving along with the inside
people and so far has all been positive (in my eyes). I figure there
will be a rough road or two with power struggles in the management as things move along, but with the unbelievable growth involved, I don't see anything serious enough to affect the stock price. (Unless of course there is another larger merger in the future) Either way, it's
one to hold on to. It may become a "Lucent" soon..

Regards,

F.T.
