When did this happen? About the time of the Stark incident or the time the US navy shot down the Persian Airlines jet?

If memory serves, we didn't even sell Iran spare parts for their F4s during the iran-iraq war... so when was it that we sided with Iran against Iraq... or was that a bad example?
