The stocks you have been citing are the internet stocks not PC makers. This is a different game and a different set of business models.

The PC makers have been affected by the INTC and MSFT woes. Also, the indirect box manufacturers have been shooting themselves in their collective feet in their battle for market share. You can think of them as the gang that can not shoot straight. In the case of CPQ it can not even talk straight.

DELL stands above this battle in its single minded execution of its business plans. DELL also seems to be interested in maintaining its credibility with its stockholders.
