What you're both missing here is that all these atrocities occurred DUE TO an overly aggressive state.
The Civil War - the Rebels were right about most things (not slavery, obviously), and we are returning to their way of thinking today. With much joy and enlightenment, I might add. States' rights are becoming more important.
In any case...all these atrocities were brought about by an aggressive central government.
