Robert Thank you for sharing your past with me. I am sincerely happy that you have found peace and a more centered life through Christianity. Awhile ago, on this thread, I gave a similar account of my life. I certainly dont want to bore anyone with the details(again:-) ) so I will just give a very brief synopsis. My father died when I was ten years old. I was the oldest sibling and for the most part had complete freedom to do whatever I wanted from that time forward, due to the fact that my mother had more than she could handle. Like any kid, I severely abused the privilege. By the time I was in seventh grade, I was either drinking or getting high on a daily basis. It was not rare for me to not come home. I was in a lot of pain, and had no release for it other than partying and having fun. It wasnt until later in my life that I started to find some peace. Other than my wife and kids, the biggest reason for that peace has come from a self-study of spirituality. Even at a young age, I coouldn't understand how organized religion could be so exclusive. I was born a Jew and couldnt understand how, if Judiasim wa sthe one true religion, why did some kid in bangledesh with virtually no chance of becoming Jewish, have to born at such a disadvantage? Where is the equity in that, and how could I respect a God that was not at the very least equitable? Anyway, I am not going to make this a long essay on my feelings of spirituality and how I came to them. My point is, that many people with many different feelings and beliefs in God, have made their way back from the blink of oblivion through that belief in God. It is not limited to Christianity. There is a book that I have mentioned before on this thread, called Tying Rocks to Clouds. I can't remember the name of the author, unfortunately. You might enjoy the book. It is about a man who made his way back from the brink, and was able to eventually dedicate his life to finding a true path(for him). This man, interviewed a very diverse group of people(Mother Thearesa, The Dali LLama, Ram Dass, Billy Graham, Elizabeth Kubler Ross, and many other people) and aske d them all the same dozen or so questions. The results are very interesting and I think you would personally enjoy the book, and be able to relate to many aspects of it. Mark
