let them. patenting the manufacture of semiconductors with a common element probably wont hold up. of course, i am sure VLSI has created their own process for doing it, so any potential patent wouldn't apply at any rate.

orders went from "awful to OK"...not exactly jumping-up-and-down enthusiasm to cause the stock price to rise.

If, as I would guess, 'awful' equals the orders of last quarter, and perhaps the beginning of this, and 'OK' equals orders the same size as last year, then the stock should probably be priced substantially higher than it currently is (25 or more).
