thanks for the well thought out response.

First, I wouldn't short the stock neither other than pure day trading. The strike can end anytime and who knows how the market will respond. I like to sleep at night.

Auto is a cyclical industry. I think GM's timing is poor. There is a possibility that they are going to miss the peak. The US and possibly the EU economy are doing very well but can it continue. By the time GM gets their act together, we may be heading right back to the recessionary cycle.

I am thinking of some puts, going out a few months. These big caps may lead the way, if a correction comes.
