I went to the annual meeting in May. New drug applications are to be file in Dec 1998 or Jan 1999. The phase 2 test results were all extremely positive. Slides were shown. One in particular of a woman with a neck cancer - estimate was less than 90 days to live. Following treatment, the tumor was significantly reduced. A tour of the facility showed many employees are very committed to work. Many new products are contemplated and being developed. Almost no meaningful questions were asked at the meeting and it was not well attended.

Since the meeting the stock has dropped from 11 per share to current price. I understand Chiron sold a huge block. There has been no news.

It is difficult to remain positive with such an overwhelming reaction by the market. Best of luck, I hope the new year brings positive news...

Frank,

In the June 10, 1998 issue of Human Gene Therapy there is an article by Freytag et al called A Novel Three-Pronged Approach to Kill Cancer Cells Selectively: Concomitant Viral, Double Suicide Gene, and Radiotherapy...I haven't had time to read it yet, but it talks about Onyx-015 armed with the herpes simplex virus type-1 thymidine kinase gene (suicide gene). I'm not sure if Onyx is directly involved with this study or if they just supplied the vector...but either way it shows that people are striving for improvement.

Best of Luck,

Where'd He Go?

Does somebody know why Chiron sold so much of ONXX stock?
