I would love to get over the 56K stuff and get onto the
xDSL or Cable Modem. The problem, IMO, is politics, etc...
not technology. Somewhat similar BS that 56K has had to
go through.

3 examples:

1) I just read this morning that AOL (I live in the Virginia/MD
area) is NOT allowing @HOME (cable modems) to connect to
them...what kind of BS is this??

2) Look how AT&T are getting treated because they want
to buy TCI and want to implement cable modems and xDSL
(I forget how this fits into their implementation
scheme). Their plan is looked upon as very
dubious by the street - rightly so. It's a lot easier to
talk about than to do.
(this is not the only gripe that the street has about
AT&T/TCI merger, but a big part)

3) RBOCs for years have been talking about ISDN and
xDSL...when are they going to do it?...by end of this
year?...uhuh, right, very optimistic...and,what's everybody
do till then, suffer with measly 33.6K or lower speeds?
