John: The Calgary Herald had a write-up in Saturdays paper with the caption: " Indians who are black and white with greenbacks all over are making some whites resentful" The article originated in the Washington Post, Preston, Conn.( I do not understand Washington Post having an address in Preston, Conn. but this how it was reported in the Calgary paper. Oh well, dumb canucks.

The article discusses the Mashantucket Pequots, owners of the Foxwoods Casino, one of the most profitable gambling casino in the world. In 1983, the Band got Federal recognition. After stating with a bingo hall in 1986, they opened Foxwood casino 1992 and got rich. They are now wealthy and influential. Foxwoods gross is estimated between $1 and $1.5 billion.

The world's riches Indian Tribe is headed up by Pequot Chief Richard A. (Skip) Hayward). Hayward's message is " the only thing more upsetting to some whites than a poor Indian is a rich one."

The article is enlightening and if people wanted me to fax a copy I'll do that. I cannot retrieve the article from Calgary Herald via the internet.

The reason I thought that it may be of interest to Sungolders can be read between the lines.

Sincerely, Roger
