Brent, Fiserv and M&I both offer S1's technology to their own customers which I understand to be mostly smaller banks. By utilizing these companies, S1 is able to reach a much broader range of banks than they could efficiently sell to themselves. In addition, since these companies have very strong, established relationships with their respective customers, S1 may have had a difficult time going directly to them anyway as Fiserv and M&I already process transactions for these banks. In fact, had they tried to go around them, S1 could have encouraged them to try to become competitors rather than promoters of S1 technology. Alliances like this are good for everyone as I'm sure you can appreciate.

Good fortune to you,
Bob

FISV has a deal with SFNB to use the software and technology, and process transactions through there own equipment. (their choice of course)
