3COM to $40 next week.

If they do the followings,

1. Sell the modem section to Amazon.com. Amazon is the only company in commodity business who can double its price in a month. After the merge, Amazon not only sells books, CDs, but also Modems. AMZN could surge $100 a day based on that news. At the same time, COMS announces that they no longer associate the M word.

2. Change the company name to "3.com" from "3com". By doing that, 3Com will become an internet play. If street can adjust their views on COMS from commodity business to internet company. $40 next week is an easy case.

Much of the TA was done in hindsight, I wouldn't totally trust it (at least not in a casual way)for decision making. People tend to think that a gap must be filled soon or later, but that kind of gap is for break-out (or break-down) situations. (The gap up to 30+ needs not be filled and thus I don't think it is necessary to go back to the 27+. If anything, the trend line formed by connecting Oct 97-about 56+ to early May 98-about 35, could mean something. For coms to close at a minor down today would be very encouraging, FWIW.) At this time it is biased toward a pull back, but only to make room for a blast. God willing. History is still in the making, we can only have an intelligent guess.

High tight flags are extremely rare. I bet against them.
