If you read some of the level II posts on this board you will see a
"U" or (I think) a "D" designation next to each trade.

Hey BigA can you help me out here if I'm wrong?

The way I've come to understand it, the "U" designates an "UPTICK" condition on the trade executed. An "U" trade occurs, I believe, when
either the the trade is executed at "ask" or sometimes at "market", just as long as the buy/sell is done at a price level that is considered to be uptrending.

A "D" designation is for "Downtick" or downtrending of price direction.

Just let me know if I can be more vague lol. (sorry I don't have a better handle on the EXACT definition of the U designation, but that's the general idea).
If anyone knows more on the U designation, please post.

Regards,
-Mark

PS the only other designation I'm aware it could mean is "UNRESTICTED SHARES", but once again it's been my understanding it's a trending designation. I've never had level II personally, so if you have level II, please clarify the matter if it's different from what I've posted. Thanks!!
