It does seem that way....historically when news hits or it get driven up for any reason the ask climbs and the bid stays put..or does not move proportionately to the increase in the ask. Even if you buy when the spread is tight..it will open up when you want to sell.

There are many other stocks to choose from that don't have this behavior.
