Hi Patrick. Yep the guy is smokin dope! 5000-10,000 holes would fenceline the whole 25 km's!!

Correction on Bre-X though... they put in 434 holes and proved up DIRT!!!

Patrick, your comment answers your own question. "I remember reading somewhere Bre-x had drilled 300 holes and proved up 90 million ounces"
Obviously Bre-X didn't prove anything! But my recollection was that they had several thousand holes drilled. The amount of drilling is not so much the issue as the density of drilling to prove to geologic standards that between the drill holes it is not only likely, but it is highly probable that the same material exists. In a Placer deposit the rules change a bit plus trenching for testing and open pit recovery seems to be a method GE may pursue. But those are the basics.

More dense drilling increases the confidence of the content of the ore and the larger the land mass the more drilling you need to make that determination.

<< In my little experience 5,000 to 10,000 holes could prove up the complete 157 million.>>

I agree with you...these numbers are way to high...assuming that drill holes could do the job of proving up 6M reserves..much less would be needed, certainly below 1000.
