Perhaps I'm perverse.

Perhaps it's your storytelling imagery and diction.

Or maybe it's just cuz I'm a city boy.

In any case, I couldn't help but think one thing whilst reading your prose: Conrad's Heart of Darkness.

Stitch,

An interesting story very well told.
Stitch, you may be wasting your time
chasing the almighty dollar. Have you
ever thought a more creative bent would
give more satisfaction, and may even
be commercial, heaven forbid?DS

Let me add my thanks for a story well written.

How does the Bumi Putra (is it Princes of the Soil?) relate to "Orang-Asli" people. I'm sure you can tell it the best.

Regards,

John

Stitch,

thanks for your response. your story took me back to my younger days when as a navigator during the vietnam war I had the pleasure of visiting many countries in s.e. asia. I will never forget the hiking trips to remote villages in okinawa, taiwan, and thailand. it's still hard for me to believe that I was able to have those positive experiences amidst the death, horror and ugliness which permeated that part of the world. it does, in many ways, seem like a dream.

regards
