FIELD ACTIVITIES / Benz Energy Commences Development Program At Oakvale Dome BENZ ENERGY LTD. VSE SYMBOL: BZG JULY 7, 1998 HOUSTON, TEXAS--Benz Energy Ltd. today announces that it has commenced its previously announced development program at the Oakvale Dome Field, Jefferson Davis County Mississippi. The Company owns an average 63.88 percent working interest in the property. Benz's September 1997 discovery well for the new field, the Saltry Byrd No. 1, was completed in the Harper Formation from the depths of 15,964 feet to 15,988 feet. The well has produced at an average rate of 7.2 million cubic feet of gas per day and 34 barrels of condensate with very little decrease in pressure since it was put on production in September 1997. The first development well is being drilled as the Benz Energy -- Howell Petroleum 32-4 No. 1 and is the first well of a four-well dual rig development program. The Howell Petroleum well will be drilled to a depth of 16,600 feet to be completed in one or more of the five zones identified to be productive in the Saltry Byrd No. 1 well. Benz Energy Ltd. is an exploration and development oil and gas company based in Houston, Texas, focused on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region.
