Slow down boys, these things don't get completed overnight. The only reason you would want to really jump in is if there is gas. Setting casing doesn't mean there is gas.

This well could be a Killer. I just talked with one of WT's directors and he informed me that a rig nearby ours burned as the result of a blow-out caused by the Smackover zone.

WT is mudding-up (increasing the weight of the drilling mud) in anticipation of hitting the Smackover zone very soon. I have been told that the Smackover is known for pressures +/- 14,000 psi. I wonder why the company isn't targeting (or are they?) this zone as their primary concern. If it was to produce 8 - 10 mmscf/day this would be worth significantly more in revenue than the oil.

I also understand they are planning an open-hole drill-stem test (DST) to evaluate the Norphlet once they hit TD. This should provide some very exciting pictures as the oil rumbles through the test lines, into tanks and the solution gas is flared into the Mississippi night and the tank trucks run in and out of location, hauling the money off to the bank (so to speak).

If anyone is planning a trip to location, the time to go is during the DST.

Regards, AL
