Dan - you said "The competition in this market (3-D acceleration) which is clearly a future oriented market ala 3d games today and the virtual world tomorrow is legion and larger than 3dfx. If this company pulls it off, there is no limit to its price. Yet that is a difficult feat to imagine, given the likes of Nec and Intel for starters."

Well, personally I'm betting that Nec, Intel, and others (AMD, NSM, IDTI) will eventually have to incorporate 3dfx technology in their next generation chips. This is called "IP", for "intellectual property", and it is the next big thing for the semi industry. Believe me, if I thought that 3dfx was going to be manufacturing chips five years from now I would never have invested in them. By then I expect all of their income being from their technology being licenced to anybody who wants to make a single chip PC. This is the business model being used by RMBS, and they seem to be doing OK.
