Re. This is also the first time I've ever seen published whisper numbers. What are your thoughts on this?

I kinda looked at these numbers feeling amused. While I can't say that they are sheer non-sense, I certainly wouldn't make any investment decisions based upon these.

Thoese earning estimation is a joke. If those analysts can really predict the earnings
accurately, they can all quit their own jobs.
The rule of the earning estimation game is :

The what so called analysts give an estimated number, Then MSFT try to match it or not with the following ways:

1) Bill Gate decided to match the number by just report the exact estimated number by reserve less profit of the current quarter for the next quarter, or pull out some of the reserved earnings of the previous quarter for the current quarter.
2) Or Bill Gate decided to beat the analysts' estimation by report higher number.

But all in all, how much to report it all depends MSFT. The analysts just take the credict.
