Tyan mobos
The Tyan manual indicates that one must use Tyan or Tyan approved cables. Do Tyan cables have different configurations or is this Tyan trying to protect themselves. Do they have a list of approved cables??

from the manual

Note: Only TYAN cables will work on this motherboard. If you are using an existing case with old cables, your system will not function properly. Use only TYAN-approved cables.

this is basically true for most manufacturers. What they are saying is that there is no standard for the pin layout of the motherboard connections and one vendor may have VCC on pin1 and another might have GND on pin1 and you could damage or cause problems with the systems. Obviously EIDE connectors are standard. They include all cables that you need with their mobo's.
