OFF TOPIC: RE NATIONAL HOLIDAYS.

Blue Fox, while Canada Day is a day for well-deserved national pride and celebration, there are big differences in the historical significance.

July 4, 1776 was the day the Declaration of Independence was signed, "establishing" certain inalienable rights. No "country" originated on July 4. It was instead a clarion call for democracy all over the world. Obviously, the Magna Carta beat the declaration by a few years (LOL), but nevertheless it was an important restatement of both human rights and democratic values.

Compared to the "nasty divorce" with "England" in 1776, Canada Day celebrates when Canada became a full-fledged member of the British Commonwealth, which it remains to this day, I believe?

Best regards.
