Are you familiar with "Bionomics", that was distributed at one of Esther's PC Forums some years ago (Michael Rothschild, if my memory does not betray me) ? It gave me many insights on all those ideas.

Microcosm was unique among books on the chip in that it stressed the analog properties of the brain (the brain actually simulates what it sees, so that you experience your perceptions) and thus concluded that successful vision and natural language devices would have to be analog and neural, as Carver Mead has been building them at Synaptics with Federico Faggin (the real inventor of the microprocessor). I don't know where Malone gets off calling me and Rich technoreactionaries because we believe in capitalism and freedom, but each to his own.
