I just put on a Long August 450C/450P XOI synthetic for $6 (effective index price = $456, actual XOI = 454.??). XOI is at the bottom of its range and if support holds it could go back to ~480. Check it out as "$XOI.X" on schwab.com.

With OEX at 558, I sold a 570/575 credit spread, but stopped out when OEX > 565 for a slight loss.

I still think the INX will make a good short at some point since the key Internet stocks are crumbling once again! Of the other hand, I'm not fond of standing in front of speeding locomotives!

I'm hoping I'll get assigned out of an old buy-write. About 3 weeks ago with BROD (Broderbund Software) at 17-1/2, I bought the stock and wrote the July 17-1/2 Calls for 2-1/2. The premium was fat since BROD was a takeover candidate. Last week, BROD went out at 22-3/4, so hopefully I'll get assigned and pocket a $2.50 profit on a net investment of $15 per share. I couldn't believe someone would pay me a $2.50 premium for an at-the-money call on a $17.50 stock; evidently whoever bought the call had his or her reasons!

Happy trading!
