Excellent post, Mr. Lakers. Truly excellent!

You are an experienced counselor and a mathematician. I am not so qualified. But I will use your numbers and by all means strongly consider following your advice Monday AM.

1) Yes I do believe that the value of the stock will increase. Wholeheartedly!

2) My thoughts on Kingfine: I have conducted some fairly good research on them. Two main principles: Dechtar and Stockmeister98. They are two mavericks who began on FINE Yahoo BB. They developed a following. They then began a Kingfine web site (a rather amateur concoction) on Geocities. But they received 15k hits the first week, then 17k hits the second week. They never expected this. But they were both very controversial and apparently convinced a great deal of Yahoo BBers to follow them. Then they were approached by some professional programmers who upscaled the site considerably. The thing then really took off. They continued to promote themselves on Yahoo BBs. Apparently they reached a peak of 8K to 9k user sessions per day. They had server problems and their numbers tailed off a bit but they are still at about 6 to 7K users a day. I sense that they see this VIP Spotlight thing as a great boost to their numbers and I am convinced that they are going all out to achieve the 12k users for RA's performance. Remember that they were already featured in the WSJ and a few other places early on, so they probably have some decent press contacts.

Now if you do this, you will discover something very interesting: Go to VIP Spotlight. There you will see that there is another VIP guest the very next day after RA. And yet, astoundingly, only a handfull of questions have been posed. RA has 98!! What a difference. Now the real convincer: Stockmeister has an editorial all about RA's VIP deal. Why? Obviously he is turning on the machinery to promote RA's deal and not the other one. No doubt he sees something of value here. So yes I am more than convinced that KF will deliver the audience, if at all there is an audience to deliver.

Thank you.

The IRS may have a different view ...

After you acquire your second lot you must wait 31 days before you buy or sell in order to incur any tax loss benefit. In your scenario you'd have to wait 31 days after buying the second lot before you "sell your original 1,428 shares" in order to receive any tax loss on the original shares.

Otherwise, 1428 shares of the second purchase would be considered a wash sale, there would be no tax loss benefit, and you'd be holding 1572 shares at a cost basis of your presumed $1.88 price.

Of course, I'm no expert so standard disclaimers apply. However, it seems to me that the rules are quite clear on this and can be found in any tax guide.
