Del, my theory is what you are seeing is a reflections of what the mass media have programmed into woman and families as being "important".

Being a good housewife, home-aker or whatever the politically correct term is nowadays is still looked at by movies and the media as being "underachieved or something. Or, you as a woman, have not reached your full "potential". This attitude about womens role in the family has been one of the worst destructive fallouts from all that "Gloria Steinam" stuff to me.

One of my neighbors is a stay at home dad. What do they call those anyway, housedads?? Sometimes I visit him during the day and he reminds me more of "Mrs Brady" than any of my wife's friends who are housewives. Funny, he seems to have no problem at all being "fullfilled" in that role. I wish my wife was a Bank President so I could give it a shot!

Ooops, never mind, I just remembered my last two weeks alone with the kids! :-)

This may seem far fetched, but I also believe "soap opera's" have encouraged this attitude. One day I may write a book entitled "Little Girls don't play hopscotch anymore". Instead they watch soap opera's from the time they are 12.

Some of the sickest messages about relationships are being taught through that medium IMHO.
