Perhaps they can't deliver higher earnings/margins regardless of their mgmt ability....... perhaps they have become too commoditized and will now go the way of most pc,semi conductor, and storage stocks until overtly strong growth in these sectors is re established....

notwithstanding blips to either side for short term trading.....the chart in my view is really a series of declining tops....i.e. lower highs..... beginning in DEC of 1997 where the equity price peaked....

there are more and more of these throughout the market.....but in this case, the opportunities are then limited to quick trades within the longer downward trend........ this fast run to 50, in my mind, is not at all indicated..... a few runs yes....but a run like that....needs a reason.....of which there isn't at the moment.....so without a reason....then perhaps you could hope for momentum players to enter..........hardly likely with such good fruit out there like yahoo, amazon and other stuff.....even fundamental stuff with far better stories than 3com's at the moment..... all that in addition to mgmt's very poor handling of the story has certainly dented interest... add summer doldrums.....which I believe may have started already..... stocks like 3coms should do little more than coast along barring further bad news.........until the markets themselves start to make their larger moves in anticipation of what's coming.....continued bull or (for some) the long awaited for BEAR.

My 2 bytes worth...
