There seems to be an emphasis on small caps here which works except for the damn short squeezes. What about large caps? There are a lot of dicey large caps out there which are going down 10-50% near term. The advantages are: cheaper options, fewer short squeezes, less chances of hype-ups.

There are two other criteria that can be useful in evaluating small cap stocks as possible shorts.

1. Managements that use their PR departments to "pump" a stock. This is often evidenced by "press releases" that imply huge future potential by dropping big names, but in actuality contain no material information. Technology companies in particular use VAR announcements, teaming agreements, partnering agreements, etc., in this fashion.

Legitimate companies rarely try to manipulate in this fashion.

2. Criteria #1 is often combined with the hiring of disreputable stock promoters (Dave Stewart, e.g.). Spotting one of these relationships is often an early indication that the company is more interested in the stock price than building a business.

Dumbmoney???

Not so dumb, I say....just kidding about the feet thing...

Do you have market froth indicators? If so what are they telling you?

The euphoria is followed by quick sharp selloffs, your picks are sure to be clobbered soon. Just a question of when.....

Regards,
