Most buyout rumors are just rumors, usually when a company isn't doing well and longs are clinging to a last shred of hope. But in addition to BROD, ATLPA's buyout by QNTM was discussed far in advance and BAY's takeover was rumored for a long time. I'm not sure about the YURI buyout.

Probably less than 5% of the buyout rumors you ever hear come true, as a rough guess. I find it hard to believe that THQI would do anything before earnings which could tank the stock price again, not after two recent falls and recoveries. Better to blow away estimates and announce a split, then save an acquisition for later.
