livetrade.com, just as good as MBTrader IMO.

I'd say get the MB software because it'll take you a couple of months to get really comfortable with it anyway. Also, I've found that no matter how much theory you study, you have to see the moving Level-II screens everyday for a couple of months before it really sinks in about what is happening. Only by observing the motion of trading can you become experienced/relaxed enough to trade without guessing.

I'd skip the optional newsfeed - but definately go for a CNBC TV screen right there on your trading desk. CNBC is a critical component IMHO which acts like an extra pair of eyes on the market.

For charting, you can use MB's built in charts.
