<What ever happens, somebody is going to end up
with all of MPRS, maybe GTIS again, could be anybody.>

What were the sticking points the first time around?
Price?--I'll bet it is a lot lower now. Your suggestion
to read up on usenet is a good one, I read through several
of the threads today, if there is indeed a deal in the works
I would say that Amy is going to get a scolding on Monday tho,
just a little too eager to hint. I was surprised by all the
disappointment about AoJ, quite a following. I have never been
interested in Comic books but if there was a digital mechanism
for tapping into the collector bug, what a gold mine that would
be--just a random thought.

If the only thing I ever read were 10k's I probably would not
feel too comfortable with MPRS, it is certainly a gamble at this
stage, but there is so much unrealized money out there slopping
around in companies stock, I think sensible companies have to
spend it while the markets are up. I've been surprised that the
merger mania has been mainly in very large cap companies, the
little players need to wake up and start merging--it hardly
matters the industry, for the time being, bigger is better
(for stockholders). When I think about the market cap of MPRS
and just about any other player out there, it just boggles my
mind.

Actually, XCom was called UFO in Europe, and was made by some European independent. MPRS published it in the states and changed its name. Not sure about the sequels though.

Apparently, Simtex (makers OF x-com) located in Austin

Has Simtex made a game since MOO2? IMO, Simtex makes games with great premises, but have WAY too many bugs in them. This could have been caused by MPRS pushing them to release, or their code libraries.

Two examples:
MOM, which scrambled your command.com, so if you executed any DOS command after running it, it might scramble your FAT. This prompted me to create a 20 MB partition called SIMTEX_SUX just to run MOM! This bug was fixed in patch 1.2x.

MOO2, which might have been a good game, except the reason why my roommate and I purchased it was to play over a LAN, and the multiplayer code (as released) was exceedingly slow and buggy.

To be fair, I still play 1830, made by Simtex and published by Avalon Hill, about 100-200 times a year. I think MOM is one of the best simgle-player games ever made. (I can't find my disks though! ARG!) MOO (1, not 2) is another excellent game.

Cheers,
Tim
