Re: Washington Post article on Compaq.

IMHO, Compaq is in deep doodoo. The channels didn't get purged as rapidly as initially forecasted. The write-off for restructuring is twice the initial estimates. The expected quarter they will earn a profit has slipped from 4/98 to 1/99. All of this in the last six months. Analysts say Compaq is a good investment. I'm not so sure. They are a very big company now. It may simply take them longer to change when the market changes. I pulled out about two weeks ago. Won't go back until I see REAL EVIDENCE of positive change with respect to the PC market. The only good news in the PC market this year has all come from Dell!
