I do get the feeling that Bob doesn't like to make changes unless they are compelling and then only one or two per year. Sheldon Jacobs (who is Bob's partner in BJ group) likes to make a few changes on a monthly basis

It is really clear that Bob is striving for a conservative portfolio. He has said that his core growth fund is pretty conservative. But being conservative also means keeping it simple for the readers even if that gives up some return.

Bob has, however, made some quick and important changes over the last few years - Oregon Special, Baltimore Science and Tech, Brandywine.

I have not figured out how to use the recommended funds that are not in the portfolios vs. just using the portfolios and whether the return would be different. I sometimes think the non-portfolio funds are for the more active investor.

As far as the international part of your question, I notice Bob often makes a very interesting comment when talking about total stock market - "It is the only index fund I own in the US." Well, what is the index fund he invests in outside the US?
